Candidates are licensed, practicing mental health professionals who are obtaining additional training in psychoanalysis.
Candidates' Organization
The Candidates of the Baltimore Washington Institute for Psychoanalysis formed the Candidates' Organization to facilitate support and communication among Candidates, and between Candidates and the Institute and Society on matters relating to psychoanalytic training in all its facets. Through the Organization, Candidates serve on a number of Institute committees, including Curriculum, Progression, and the Consultation and Referral Service. The Candidates' Organization meets each weekend classes are held. Participation by all Candidates is encouraged. Social events are also held under the Organization's auspices. A President is chosen by the Candidates, and a Candidate is also selected to serve as a delegate to the Affiliates' Council of The American Psychoanalytic Association.
