The Adult Psychoanalysis Fellowship Program is a one-year program designed for individuals who have a significant interest in psychoanalysis as a body of knowledge and as a framework with which to understand and carry out therapeutic efforts. Intended for advanced graduate students and residents as well as recent graduates in Psychiatry, Psychology and Social Work, the program at its core consists of monthly seminars presented by psychoanalysts on clinically-related topics. Fellows are also welcome to attend Forums on Psychoanalysis and other conferences offered by the Institute and Society.
The Program Will Include:
▪ Special
lectures, seminars and case conferences arranged for Fellows and
held monthly on Saturday
mornings for an hour-and-a-half throughout
the academic year.
▪ An
Institute or Society member assigned to each Fellow to meet
individually and as a group to discuss
therapeutic issues, papers,
research and other relevant topics.
▪ Invitations to the scientific meetings held by the Baltimore Washington Society for Psychoanalysis.
▪ Waiver of registration fees for
local conferences sponsored by the
Baltimore Washington Institute for
Psychoanalysis and the Baltimore
Washington Society for Psychoanalysis.
▪ A
welcoming luncheon held for Fellows to include the Director of the
Institute, the President of the Society, the
Chair of the Education
Committee and members of the Fellowship Committee.
The Application Process:
Those interested in applying to the Institute/Society Fellowship Program should submit the following information:
1. A short personal essay (two pages maximum) describing the development of your interest in the application of psychoanalytic and/or psychodynamic concepts.
2. Two letters of recommendation from professionals having direct knowledge of your therapeutic work with individuals.
3. Your
current curriculum vitae.
Applications for the Institute/Society Fellowship Program for 2008 - 2009 must be received by July 15, 2008. Fellowships will be announced in early September.
