for Psychoanalysis
It is the purpose of the Baltimore Washington
Society for Psychoanalysis, Inc., to advance the study and practice
of psychoanalysis; to establish and maintain standards for the
practice of psychoanalysis and support the training of
psychoanalysts; to foster the integration of psychoanalysis with
other branches of medicine and the mental health professions; to
support psychoanalytic practice through outreach efforts and
continuing education; to serve the community by providing training,
services and other resources; and to encourage research in all
fields associated with the scientific knowledge and welfare of human
beings.
Membership
Voting membership is open to graduates of the Baltimore Washington Institute for Psychoanalysis, Inc., and to graduates of accredited Institutes of The American Psychoanalytic Association or of the International Psychoanalytic Association. Application may be made in writing to the Secretary of the Society at the Sweitzer Lane address. Affiliate membership may be extended to persons whose interests and professional work are closely associated with the field of psychoanalysis.

Continuing Education
Activities of the Society have been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of The American Psychoanalytic Association and the Baltimore Washington Society for Psychoanalysis, Inc. The American Psychoanalytic Association is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians and takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of its CME activities.
The American Psychoanalytic Association designates its educational activities for a maximum of one credit per hour in Category 1 credit towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
The Society is recognized by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists as a sponsor of continuing education activities. The Society is recognized by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners as a sponsor of continuing education activities.
